Aftercare
The top priority of a healing tattoo is keeping it clean!
Saniderm/Recovery Derm Aftercare:
Leave bandage on for 4 days.
On the 4th day, remove bandage under hot water while in the shower. Use antibacterial soap to wash the entire tattoo and surrounding area with your fingers only. Make sure to fully rinse the area completely after using soap. Rinse with cold water when you are done.
Clean the tattoo with soap and hot water 2-3 times a day until it is healed.
Apply scent-free and dye-free lotion to the tattoo every time after washing and allowing to air dry.
Regular Aftercare:
Leave plastic wrap on the tattoo for no longer than 3 hours.
Take plastic wrap off in a clean bathroom, preferably while in the shower. With only your hands, wash the tattoo with hot water and antibacterial soap making sure to completely wash off all plasma and excess ink - you can do this process a couple times as necessary to make sure it doesn’t feel slimy. It is best to do this process at the end of your shower to ensure no other soap or shampoo residues sit on the tattoo area.
When done washing, use paper towels to pat dry the area, and then continue to let it air dry.
Continue this process 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks.
For the first 2 days, let your tattoo air dry without ointment to allow the tattoo to breathe and begin healing.
After day 2, you can begin to apply scent-free dye-free lotion or Aquaphor to the tattoo.
If using Aquaphor, please apply very small amounts at a time and rub in as if it is lotion - you want it to feel moisturized, not slippery.
If for any reason the tattoo appears to be sweating or beading, with clean hands, you can use a paper towel to dab the area dry, or you can wash it again with soap and hot water allowing it to air dry afterwards.
Avoid using a loofa or washcloth on the tattoo until the tattoo is completely healed.
Avoid taking baths, long showers, and sun exposure for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Avoid working out in a gym for a minimum of 5 days.
